Some people demand a proof of God's existence without being willing to seek Him earnestly. They reject the Bible, the word of God, with the objection that someone must first prove that there is God. Their reasoning is at fault. In any field of knowledge one must accept certain basic facts before continuing to examine the structure of the subject.
Would it not be foolish to pour doubt on the subject of mathematics simply because One refuses to agree to the accepted principles on which it is based?
It is not possible to prove that two numbers that are each the same as a third must therefore be equal in themselves : One must accept the fact. However, if one understands something of mathematics, one recognises the correctness of the whole system.
It is no different concerning a knowledge of God. To know God,you don't start from the end asking for proofs but from the beginning. The first basic principle is to by faith believe that He exists and that He rewards those who inquire after Him. You must also believe that through His Spirit He has given mankind pronouncements that are recorded in His word, the Bible.
So you must then read the Bible not for reading sake,but with a heart of faith-a heart that desires to know Him. Don't demand a proof of God beforehand ; as soon as you have come to know God,you will no longer need it.
"By faith we understand. . ." (Hebrews 11:3); Faith is a key driving force to knowing God and without which it's impossible to know Him. The mistake the world usually make is that it thought it could use physical or natural methods to understand spiritual matters. It doesn't work that way! To understand spiritual things you must go beyond the realm of human faculty by accepting some certain basic principles on which spiritual matters are based.
