"For everything that was written long ago was written for our instruction, so that we might have hope through the endurance and encouragement that the Scriptures give us." (Romans 15:4)
The tribe of the Guananos in South America now numbers only about one thousand members. Some of them are Christians. They even possess the New Testament in their own language. They naturally compared the Bible message and its stories with their own traditions. One Guanano man has given this report:
"We have our own traditions as to where we came from. When I heard God's version, how everything started with Adam and Eve, I could not believe it at first. I thought it's a white man's story.
However, the more I heard the whole story of God and man, it became all the more clearer that it is true, and I was convinced. Our traditions never gave us any hope: life ended with the grave, and there was only wailing and despair. God's account takes us beyond the grave with Christ's inconceivable glory which awaits us, and there we shall meet up with our loved ones. God's side of the story has given us hope!"
"Remember that at one time you . . . . were without Christ . . . . and strangers to the covenants of promise. You had no hope and were in the world without God.
But now, in Christ Jesus, you who once were far away have been brought near by the blood of Christ." (Ephesians 2:11-13)
"Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope might be in God." (1 Peter 1:21).
Christ is the hope of those who put their trust in Him, and who walk in obedience to God. Are you walking in obedience to God?
