The Need To seek God
Isaiah 55:6; Psalm 105:4
"Seek the Lord while he may be found."
"Seek the Lord. . . ; seek His face evermore! "
When we seek something, we are mostly occupied with finding what has been lost or hidden, and we hope that it is for the last time." Seeking "can have other meanings, e.g."constantly desiring or striving after something".
In a happy marriage both senses of the word have been realized :husband and wife have sought and found the partner for life. They are happy ;so in this sense they need no longer seek. But precisely, because they love each other, they seek each other's presence again and again, and that intensifies their loving, happy relationship.
The loving God is also desirous of a profound, happy relationship with each one of his creatures. The original relationship was destroyed by sin. Selfish interests captivates Man's mind, so that he lost sight of his Creator. That is why we have to seek God. But it is not a lengthy, troublesome search, nor a groping in the dark. It is a radical change of direction, a fundamental change of attitude.
Whoever turns to God in this way is grateful for the forgiveness of sins received. He rejoices in the "peace with God" and the new relationship with Him as his Father that he enjoys. He is overwhelmed by the love of God and the blessing that He gives His children day by day. He has "found" God, once for all time, and for that reason will "seek His face evermore", in prayer and studying His word (the Bible).
Beloved of Christ, have you "found" God yet ? Are you "seeking His face daily" in prayer and studying His word? You will do well to answer this two vital questions with sincerity. It greatly determines your current state in your walk with God.
