Saved To Be Safe
The greatest thing to ever happen to a person is to be saved! You'll agree with me that nobody wants to be in bondage,nobody wants to be a slave,and nobody wants to die! Everybody wants to be free!
Dear Friend, the above mentioned facts are undeniable! But you may say, "if nobody wants to die, then why do some people commit suicide?" The answer is quite simple. Why would they commit suicide if everything is going well for them? This explains the danger of being in bondage. People in bondage sometimes consider suicide as the solution to their problems. To be in bondage means to lack freedom. It also means living under the control of both physical and spiritual forces whose mission is to exploit and ruin you. Being in bondage makes you a loser, makes you grow tired with life, and also makes you see no reason to go on living. You are always the victim at the end of the day.
Friend, being in bondage is something you don't want to experience. But you're already in it anyway. Naturally, everyone is born in bondage. We were all born in chains as a result of what our first parents did. Though they were created in God's image and likeness, they sinned against God (their maker) through disobedience (Genesis 3:1). Their disobedience brought separation between them and God as they no longer possess the likeness of their maker,and death followed as warned. The Scripture says, "Sin came into the world through one person, and death came through sin. So death spread to everyone, because everyone sinned." (Romans 5:12). The worst thing is not being born in bondage to sin, but the Bible says being in bondage to sin leads to death not just in the body, but worst of all, in the spirit,"The payment for sin is death" (Romans 6:23). Can you now see why I said earlier, that being in bondage makes you a loser, and the victim at the end of the day?
I'm sure you sometimes wonder why people behave the way they do; why they steal, kill, tell lies, boast, hate etc. and find it hard to change. It's not because they are actually bad people, but because they were born under spiritual bondage (in sin). Here is what someone said, " Now, when I do what I don't want to do, I am no longer the one who is doing it. Sin that lives in me is doing it.
So I've discovered this truth: Evil is present with me even when I want to do what God's standards say is good." (Romans 7:20-21). You see, you're not the only one experiencing this. You know what is right, but find yourself doing the wrong thing. You can see clearly that you are under spiritual bondage hence it's not you controlling yourself. That force that is causing you to act the way you do, is your spiritual master. It's the old enemy of God who deceived our first parents thus creating enemity between them and God. And because we are their seeds, he is also after us. He wants to exploit us by using us against our maker, then destroy us at the end. To be free, you must be saved from his power. It's however not something you can do by yourself otherwise, there would have been no wickedness in the world today.
While we were still suffering and helplessly wearing out and dying in bondage to sin, the God whom our first parents rebelled against, had pity on us and decided to free us from our bondage by reestablishing our relationship and fellowship with Him as was in the beginning. This He did by sending His Son Jesus Christ to receive all the due punishment for our sins upon Himself,so that through His death, we would be declared innocent and free from every sin we had once committed while in bondage -the sins that would have destroyed us if God were to punish us for them. Now, you can be free from this bondage and become a friend and a child of God as was His original intention in the beginning. You don't have to die in your sins as God's enemy and end up in hell which is God's way of punishing spiritual rebellious beings. All you need to do is to desire this freedom, and let your desire move you into taking the necessary steps to obtaining this freedom. It's actually not a bogus step, but just a simple word of prayer. It's a prayer of confession and acceptance of God's Son,Jesus Christ into your life as your Savior from the bondage you've been suffering from all these years. It is a prayer of faith which has the power to break the chains of bondage to sin in your life. Do you want to be free and become a friend and a child of God? If yes, then open up your heart and say the following prayer:
Lord Jesus, here I am. I know how sinful I am, and also know that you'll be right to condemn me for all the wrongs and evil things I did. But in response to your call, I say yes! I'm so sorry for rejecting you all this while, and even ridiculed you before your enemies. But now On Lamb of God I come. Forgive me all my sins,wash me with your blood, and accept me as your own. I denounce my former master and all his things, and now accept you as my Savior and Lord. Erase O Lord, my name from the book of death, and write it in the book of Life. Fill me with your Spirit and forever rule my life till I shall see you face to face. Thank you for saving me, and for giving me a whole new life. In Jesus name I pray! Amen.
