The Unknown Witness

God has done all this. He has restored our relationship with him through Christ, and has given us this ministry of restoring relationships.
Therefore, we are Christ's representatives, and through us God is calling you. We beg you on behalf of Christ to become reunited with God.
(2 Corinthians 5:18,20)

A friend of ours was once stopped in the street and asked if he would witness the signing of a last will and testament. A solicitor was present at the bedside of a dying man. Since the matter was urgent, our friend agreed, although he knew neither the testator nor the solicitor. When the formality was over, he took the opportunity to direct the man's thoughts to Jesus Christ,as he would soon have to appear before God. "You have now put your earthly affairs in order, " he said quietly."But are you sure that everything is in order for heaven? "
The dying man's expression portrayed astonishment and uncertainty. He was not ready for that final journey. So the Christian continued:"You must be reconciled to God here and now. How can you leave this earth without knowing that your sins are forgiven? "
Our friend explained the gospel to him in his last hours as simply as possible. Happily the man believed God's message and took refuge in the Savior,Jesus Christ. When the "unknown witness" took his leave, the dying man thanked him for his help in the earthly matter, but also for the service done for his soul, which was far more important.
It is important to note that because our earthly affairs are in order does not mean we are ready to meet God after this life. What matters is whether we have Christ in us or not (John 3:36),and whether we did what God wants or not (Matthew 7:21). Any other matter is not as important as this. So do you have Jesus Christ in your heart? Are you doing what God wants or are you after what you think is right? You can set things right with God right now!
