I was living for this world, looking for happiness of parties, races, games and amusements of every kind. But the thought of death and judgement kept troubling me. I wanted real peace and joy - but I could never get it.
I attended Church and even taught Sunday school. I read the Bible , but religion gave me more satisfaction than all my amusements.
A QUESTION FOR ME
One day a friend asked, "Is this world all that you are living for?" I avoided answering him, but could not escape his question. I knew there was more.
I knew there was an eternity. I knew I was a sinner living in rebellion against God. I knew I was on road to hell. I was miserable!
I resolved to live a different life, and began by giving up swearing. I even told my friends they should not swear. But this didn't help at all.
I asked God for mercy, but found no peace. Then one day this line from a Church song came to mind: "One there is above all others, Oh! how He loves ..." I asked myself, "Is it possible that God loves me?" The answer came from a Bible verse I had memorized: " While we were yet in weakness [powerless to help ourselves], at the fitting time Christ died for (in behalf of) the ungodly. " (Romans 5:6).
I knew I was "In weakness" and "ungodly" If Christ died for such people, He must have died for me. Then and there I trust Jesus, and He begin filling my life " with all joy and peace in believing" (Romans 15:13). For the first time I realized that I was eternally saved!
A QUESTION FOR YOU
Now let me asked you the same question: Is this world all that you are living for? Maybe you csn look back over 60 or even 70 years of your life. What's your answer?
Maybe you are in your prime succeeding in business and enjoying your family. I'm asking the same question: Is this world all you are living for?
Maybe you are young and saying, "Death is so far away! I have lots of time." Don't for get that God says, " Do not boast of [yourself and] tomorrow, for you know not what a day may bring forth." (Proverb 27:1).
Many of your age have died, No doubt they also thought they had a long time to live - but now they are gone. Where?
A QUESTION FROM GOD
In the Bible Jesus asks another question: " For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his life [in the eternal kingdom of God]?" (Mark 8:36). There is an eternity beyond this life. Are you ready for it? Jesus shed His blood to save you from judgement to come. Will you believe in Him?
" God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who possesses the Son has that life; he who does not possess the Son of God does not have that life" (1John 5:11-12). The choice is yours!
