Why Did Jesus Die?

"<I>For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only son,so that every one who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.</I>" (John 3:16)

<b>Why We Die</b>
You and I die because we are sinners. We have come under God's righteous sentence of death and judgment (Romans 3:23, 6:23; Hebrew 9:27)

<b>Death Had No Claim On Jesus Christ</b>
The Lord Jesus Christ came down from heaven, being born of the virgin Mary. He did not have a sinfull nature as we have, and so He never sinned. Therefore death had no claim on Him. He willingly let wicked men crucified Him at calvary (John 6:38; Mathew 1:23-25;1John 3:5; John 10:17,18). Neither those nails through His hands and feet, nor all the power in the Roman Empire could have held Him to that cross  if He had wanted to come down. It was love for your precious, undying soul that brought the Lord Jesus Christ down from heaven, took Him to, hat shameful cross, and held Him their until He had finished the work of redemption (John 19:30).

<b>No Other Way</b>
Almighty God could not find any other way or person to save you from the just penalty of your sins (1John 4:9,10,14). The Lord Jesus Christ is God and Man in one blessed person. As eternal Son of God He know all the demands of God's holy nature and all the requirements of His righteous throne, which had been outraged by our sins. As a perfect man (spirit, soul and body), He was qualified to pay for all man's sins of spirit, soul, and body.

<b>God's Approval</b>
God showed his approval of that mighty work by raising Jesus from the dead and seating Him at His own right hand in heaven (Acts 5:30). He is there now,a living, loving man, with the scars still in His hands and in His feet which he received when he died for your sins (John 20:27). As you read, He looks down from heaven upon you and He reads the thoughts and the motives of your heart. He knows what you think about your sins and what you think about Him. He wants to be your savior.
