Behold how great is our God! To Him alone be all the glory both now and forever more.Amen.
There is a love that keeps me wondering which I want to talk to you about.Honestly,I don't know the exact words to use,to describe it to you well enough.But I hope you'll discover the reasons why it kept me wondering at the end of this message.
The Bible said in Romans 5:8 [MSG],"But God put His love on the line for us by offering His Son in sacrificial death while we were of no use whatever to Him." Now,this is how "The Message translation" of the Bible puts it: "while we were of no use whatever to Him." How best can you describe God's love for you? Can a rotten egg be of any use to you? The truth is; you can't even stand the smell of a rotten egg not to talk of it being of any use to you.That's the condition of man or even worser than that.At the time when we were useless,rotten,in our worst condition,and in fact deserve to be destroyed,that was when God loved us the most.For God to have send His only Son Jesus Christ to die for our many sins at a time when He should destroy us completely,showed the extent and greatness of His love for us.This is the cry of a loving Father:"I don't want you to die,says the Sovereign Lord.Turn back and live!" -Ezekiel 18:32.
Despite all the warnings and calls for change and repentance made by the Father,no one seemed to care.He should have rained His anger on us and destroy us,yet He didn't.Instead,He loved us the more to a point where He had to send His Son Jesus Christ to bear the punishment we so richly deserve so that through Christ,our sins would be forgiven no matter how great they are.
Moreso,one might ask: why did God had to do all this? He had to do all this because He knows exactly what lies ahead of us.If a person who had died in His sins and had tasted the horror of hell,were to be given an opportunity to come out and share his experience with you,you would surely understand why God had to do all this.
Many had read and had heard so much about God's love for them and hatred for sin,yet never seem to understand it.When God warns of death,He isn't just talking about physical natural death,but also spiritual death in hell forever! If you can just sit back and reason with yourself on why God had to put His love on the line for someone like you who is of no use whatsoever to Him,by sending not even an angel,but His very own Son whom the Bible said He loved so much to die on the cross so that all the sins you committed all your life would be forgiven,you should know even without been told that hell is a place you would not want to be and God doesn't want you to be there either that is wny He said in the verse quoted above,"I don't want you to die!".
Why did this love keeps me wondering? Imagine the Person whom many hate to hear about,still saying that He loves the worst of those who hate to hear anything about Him.No matter how one rejects God,it doesn't change God's love towards him.After all,God did not love us because we loved Him in the first place.Remember the Bible said we were in fact useless before Him.1 John 4:10 [NLT],"This is real love-not that we loved God,but that He loved us."
Moreover,despite the undescribeable love of God towards us-mere soil of the earth whom He created,our actions even today showed that we are truely useless and undeserving of this great love of His.Though we know that He hates sin,but we keep on sinning right before His very eyes thus rubbishing His love for us.He said in Isaiah 66:4 [NLT],"I will send them great trouble-all the things they feared.For when I called,the did not answer,When I spoke,they did not listen.They deliberately sinned before my very eyes and chose to do what they know I despise."
God is saying that great trouble awaits those who chose to continue living in sin though they know that what they are doing is wrong.Many Christians knows that God hates sin,but they allowed their urge for the things of this life to occupy their minds and thoughts.The Bible said in Proverb 23:2 [AMP],"For you will put a knife to your throat if you are a man given to desire." The world and so many Christians by name,have put a knife to their throats due to their desires for the things of this life which Jesus said they must give it all up if they want to identify themselves with Him.This knife is the great trouble that God promised to send to those who rejected this great love of His.Remember God loves us because He doesn't what us to die,but we can chose to die by rejecting His great love for us.Which of these is your choice? If you are still dragging your sins behind you,you'll drag them to the judgment seat of God and receive rejection as your reward."What sorrow for those who drag their sins behind them with ropes made of lies,who drag wickedness behind them like a cart!" -Isaiah 5:18.[NLT]. But if you accept Jesus into your life and quit sinning by giving up your right over yourself so that Jesus would take control over your life,you would surely be saved.It doesn't matter whether you are the greatest sinner on earth,as it doesn't change God's love towards you.All you need to do is to turn to Jesus with your sins asking Him to forgive you and to become your Lord and personal savior.
This is the Love that keeps me wondering,the love that has no favourite,the love of God!
