The Raging War!A soldier who is deployed to the battle field,may go with possibilities running high in his mind.The mind starts to contemplate,it could be me.The fear of the unknown runs over and over again.The troops encourage themselves with songs but the thinking still persists,I could be the casualty.This fear could be reduced if the soldier is well trained and equipped.It could also be said of a police man who is call up to face Armed Robbers in a Bank operation or militants.A Policeman who is ill-equipped will not stand a chance with well equipped robbers or militants.The possibility of not making it back home runs high.
We are all soldiers of Christ in the battle field and what should occupy our minds,can I make it? The Soldier's confidence of the possibility of making it home,is in his training and equipment.The Soldier or Policeman need his weapons and training to fight well.
You,as a soldier of Christ,you need Jesus Christ as your weapon and the Bible to execute battle successfully.You must not depart from the Word of God.It is the weapon you have to execute the war efficiently.
It is also important to identify your enemy.A soldier will not go to war without first identifying his enemy and his capabilities.To do otherwise,it may be suicidal.Who then,is this enemy? Our source is the Bible.In 1 Peter 5:8 it says,"Control yourselves.Be on your guard.Your enemy the devil is like a roaring lion.He prowls around looking for someone to chew up and swallow." He devour victims like lion does to his victim.It is also important to remind you,your devouring enemy is a formidable foe.The Bible is quick to warn that the battle is not "of flesh and blood,it is spiritual." Your weapon for the war is in Ephesians 6:10-18.You cannot fight alone.You need a superior power to help you fight the war,just like the soldier in the war front who does not depend on his physical strength,but on his weapon and training.
The Christian weapon for the battle is the Word of God. [Jesus Christ].Jesus said in John 15:5,"I am the vine.You are the branches.If anyone remains joined to me,and I to him,he will bear a lot of fruit.You can't do anything without me." To remain in Him means to surrender completely to Jesus.He becomes the one in control not Satan.Many of us are already under the control of Satan but never agree that they are,due to spiritual blindness [imprisonment].We never see the tall walls surrounding us.We see good times.
1 Corinthians 2:14 says,"A person who isn't spiritual doesn't accept the teachings of God's spirit.He thinks they're nonsense.He can't understand them because a person must be spiritual to evaluate them." Except you accept the Lordship of Jesus over your life,the battle will surely consume you to eternal destruction in hell.
This battle can be won easily if you board the ship whose commander is Jesus.You remember Noah and members of his household,who were saved from the flood that consumed all that were not in the ship! They were not saved by their strength nor courage but by their obedience to the command of God.When you sing,sing praises to the Lord and He will arise in judgment.You remember.Jehoshaphat [2 Chronicles 20] when he went to war with Ammon,Moab and Mount seir.You need not courage like the earthly Soldier in his futile songs,your courage comes from the Lord.
Remember the Bible says,"I can do everything by the power of Christ.He gives me strength." -Philippians 4:13'
For Christ died for sins, once and for all.A good man on behalf of sinners,in order to lead you to God." -1 Peter 3:18.
This brings me to an experience I had in Kaduna,a city in the North of Nigeria.A recruit Constable was said to have given his life to Christ while reading the Koran.He was said to have read a verse in the Koran that says,"It is only Isah [Jesus] that will bring us to God." He then reasoned that if Jesus is the one to take us to God,why don't he follow Him direct.This gentleman took the right decision.How about you? Think of it.Right decisions are made while you are in this world.The Bible says,"And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment." -Hebrew 9:27.
Everyday of our lives brings us victories if Jesus is the commander.It is a war against sin that entangles.Ths include sins that upon resolutions to another in new year eve,to stop a bad habit [sin that entangles] without success.This include,being a drunk,smoking,lies,womanising,pride,and any other habit that refuse to go.You must give up.Remember you cannot do it on your own.Most of those who score victories in this war of habits that destroys,do it when Jesus is allowed to take control.Any bad habit conquered indicate victory in the battle field.Many of us make mistake by saying,'I have tried but the habit refuse to go thereby giving up.The Bible in Hebrews 12:4 says,"You struggle against sin.But you have not yet fought to the point of spilling your blood.So you cannot claim doing enough while victory has not been achieved.Do away with the stereotype of thinking,God knows,I'm doing my best.Your best is when victory is won over the works of evil.
This war is not the type you withdraw today in order to fight tomorrow.Tomorrow could be too late.Jesus said in john 10:10b,"My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. Jesus want you to achieve this victory not by compulsion.He wants you in His ship on your own accord.Jesus is the captain of the ship.You remember Noah's days! All those who were in Noah's ship were saved.But those outside the ship were killed by the flood.It is going to be in similar fashion.All those who are not in Jesus' ship will perish in hell.This is the second death.You have not yet won your war until you cross over the lane.
