Last minute convert

But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?. . . .
Yet faith comes from listening to this message of good news-the Good News about Christ.
-Romans 10:14,17.

Last minute convert
In our village there lived a very old man of 90 years of age.He was the walking history book of the district. In his younger years he worked at various professions that no longer exist; he had taken part in festivities in places that are now reduced to heaps of stones. With an ordinary school leaving certificate he had become the mayor's secretary and had started many social organizations that still exist. In addition he was the best hunter in the region, knowing the lie of the land and the habits of the animals.
It goes without saying that I enjoyed visiting him.I was never tired of asking him questions an listening to his stories.
One day, however,my conscience told me that, while I benefited from the old man's experience,I had never told him of the treasure that I possessed.
Then I gave him a New Testament as a present. He virtually devoured it! For all that he had achieved in his long life,he was not too proud to see himself as a sinner in the light of God.He accepted the Lord Jesus as his Saviour and became very happy, believing in Him.
He had had to wait 90 years for the love of God to enter his heart. He was,so to speak,a last-minute convert, for soon after he was called to be with Christ,His Saviour, for eternity.
Imagine the kind of life this old man has been living, surely his life was full of adventure. He lived a whole 90 years in sin,90 solid years away from God.He passed through several stages of life without a single knowlegde about God.But God in his love and aboundant mercies sought for him and found him 90 years later.Though the old man later died, but he had already found the Saviour and gladly gave his life to him.He is now sure of eternity with Christ.
But what about you? You may have heard of God's love and saving power, but rejected his free offer of salvation time without number.Must you wait until the last minute? Remember that the life you have is not your's and may be taken away at any time whether you are ready or not. Therefore, waiting until the last minute is definitely not an option hence you don't know the day Jesus would come or the day you'll die.The best time to act is now so you won't have to regret later.
Jesus loves you and wants to give you a new and well define life. All he's waiting for you to do is to say 'yes' to him and accept him into your life today and you won't have to wait until the last minute any more. There's no much time left,it's either now,or tomorrow maybe too late for you.The choice you make today, would affect your life forever either positively,or negatively. But at the mean time,Jesus is still waiting!
