Incomparable selflessness

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. -John 10:11.

Incomparable selflessness
With incomparable selflessness an unknown man sacrificed his life some years ago in Washington so as to save five other passengers after their aircraft crashed into the icy Patomac River.
The eye-witnesses of this act of mercy were the members of the crew of the rescue helicopter hovering above, which was to receive the survivors floating in the river. The pilots saw how a middle-aged man handed a lifebelt on to another person. He was given a sign to indicate that he was the next in turn; nevertheless he handed on the means of his rescue.
After five people had been rescued in this way,the man sank in the waters of the river without anyone to help him."I have never seen anyone so ready to make a sacrifice," said one of the two helicopter pilots."I admit that tears welled up in my eyes, and I believe he deserve them.He was a noble man and a true hero."
It is indeed moving that one man sacrificed himself for five others, but how should we be moved by the fact that at Calvary One was ready to die for all.Christ, the righteous One,died for the unrighteous. For you and me the one perfect, undefiled Man took upon Himself our guilt. What response do you give Him,the Son of God? He became Man,so as to sacrifice Himself for others.Still today He is waiting for you though not for too long, because His coming to rapture those who belong to Him is very near with no or little time left. But if you happen to die in your sins before His return, then you will have to face judgment. For the Bible says,"And just as it is destined that each person dies only once and after that comes judgment." -Hebrew 9:27.Therefore,the time to act is now for He is still waiting for you to do just that.
"He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live to please themselves.Instead, they will live to please Christ, who died and was raised for them. -2 Corinthians 5:15
