Look! Here I stand at the door and knock. If you hear me calling and open the door,I will come in,and we will share a meal as friends. -Revelation 3:20.
The open door
A Christian knocked at the door of a flat at the back of a house.A weakish voice inquied,"Who's there?"-"I'm bringing you a comforting message. Are you acquainted with the gospel?"The door chain rattled, there was a click as the bolt was drawn back, then the door openned slightly to reveal a bent-over,trembling figure.
The visitor entered. The flat was only sparsely furnished."I don't usually open the door to anyone," the elderly lady said."And I don't know why I have let you in.I think it must have been the word "gospel".It reminded me of things. You know,I have seen better days, but things have changed.I use to have lots of friends, but they have all scattered like a flock of sparrows. Now,I'm alone. There's nothing more for me."
"Yes there is.There is Jesus, the Son of God.He knocks at the door-of your heart.Let Him in! You won't regret it.Do you know that He came into this world to save what was lost?God is seeking you to save you.God loves you."The old lady's face brightened up at that."I have never believed that God could ever even trouble about me,let alone love me."
The visitor gave her the copy of a gospel to read and left .It was through that that she eventually found the Saviour and openned the door of her heart to Him.Now she was no longer alone. In Christ she had a friend who would never leave her.
Now,isn't that comforting? Can anyone boast of a good and trusted friend that would someday not leave him? Many things can bring about this separation with death being unavoidable. But Jesus is that trusted friend who never leaves us both in good and bad times. He is the friend you need.
