True Comfort In Christ Jesus

O my people,trust in Him at all times.Pour out your heart to Him,for God is our refuge. -Psalm 62:8
But when I am afraid,I put my trust in you.
O God,I praise your word.I trust in God,so why should I be afraid? -Psalm 56:3-4

True comfort in Christ Jesus
Many years ago the following happend in Chungking in China: Tian Fuhsen was the proprietor of a fashionable cafe,which was full from morning till evening and brought in a handsome profit.But one day the doctor diagnosed tuberculosis in that successful business man.
Tuberculosis-the word struck Tian like the pronouncement of the death sentence.Fear dug its claws right into his soul.Day had turned to night for him.
He entered hospital; the doctor ordered absolute rest.But if only his mind could find rest! His thoughts revolved around that one subject,tuberculosis,painting gloomy pictures before his eyes.Terror whispered,"You'll die" into his ears,"You can do nothing about it.All that you have acquired will fall into the hands of another person.You have nothing but ruin,night and the horror of death before you."
This fear plagued the Chinaman on his bed day and night.Later he said,"In spite of the physical rest i became more and more ill and would have died from fear.In his despair he contacted his cousin,who had once urged him to become a christian.
When she visited him,he said,"I have tuberculosis,and i'm afraid.I dread eternal night." His cousin hesitated,wondering if the patient would understand her.Finally she said quietly but firmly "It isn't so important whether you recover or not.What matters is that you yield your life to God and trust Him.What He does is always good." Tian Fuhsen had just heard those words of his cousin's.
For a time they chatted.The fear that had lingered over the Chinaman's bed day and night had to give way to Christ and His light.There was alot that Tian Fuhsen didn't understand,but he prayed and put his life into the hands of Jesus,thus taking the first step into light.
"That night," Tian said later,"I was able to sleep properly for the first time.That stifling fear had gone."Peace now filled the patient's heart.However his way would turn out,it would be a way into the light,not into the gloom of hopelessness.But God granted him his health.The day came when he could leave the hospital healed.
The light of the gospel shone into all the dark areas of his life,including his relationship with his wife from whom he had separated long since.He wrote to her,whom he had cast out and the mention of whose name he had forbidden:"Come back.I have become a Christian,and Christ will help us to make a fresh start to our marriage."-"Is that the gospel?" His wife asked,amazed with the change he had undergone."Then i'll take the pathway of Jesus together with my husband."
Another twelve members of his family,including Tian's strict buddhist mother,found the Saviour.Tian ended his report of his life with the words,"God's grace is inexpressibly great."
