The joy of salvation
An acquaintance of mine had been converted to Jesus Christ.The grace of God had saved and freed him from an arduous life of sin.His colleagues at work and his former friends didn't really believe the change that had come over him.For quite a time they secretly observed him.It was true that in many respects his behaviour was different from what it had been.One day a colleague asked him about this during a tea break.
He replied,"Has anything changed radically in me?""Well,I'll tell you.But it would be better if you asked my wife.You all know what kind of a fellow I was! And my wife knows best of all.How often did she go on a round of the pubs after midnight,looking for me and inquiring after me,so as to take me back home! And how badly i used to behave towards her! I am still ashamed of myself for that!
Ask my children,too! Whenever i came home,the disappeared into their rooms or they left the house.They were often afraid of me.To tell you the truth,the despised me.And no wonder: I frequently lost my temper.
"And now? It's all different.I now have a happy family life and joyful home.My wife and children are glad to see me when i come home after work.Moreover,we are better off than we were before.My wife needn't depend on what her parents used to give her.That,to put it briefly,is my situation,thanks to the grace of God!"
